The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was established in 2010 and admitted its first undergraduate students in 2013. In addition to its undergraduate program, the department also offers master's and doctoral programs. Our department consists of the Division of Mechatronics Engineering and currently employs 2 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor, 1 Postdoctoral Researcher, and 2 Research Assistants. We have four laboratories: Mechatronics Laboratory, Mechanical Assembly and Manufacturing Laboratory, Autonomous Systems Laboratory, and Embedded Systems Laboratory.
History and Development of the Department
The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was established in 2010 within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Necmettin Erbakan University with the aim of educating qualified, inquisitive, entrepreneurial, and self-confident individuals and becoming a prominent contributor to scientific and technological advancements in the field of Mechatronics at both national and international levels. The department began its undergraduate education in the fall semester of 2013 and continues its academic activities with 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 4 Assistant Professors, and 2 Research Assistants. The undergraduate program spans four years and also offers an optional one-year English preparatory class prior to the start of the engineering curriculum.
Employment Opportunities
Mechatronic systems play a significant role in many technological and industrial sectors where Turkey is becoming increasingly active in international markets. Mechatronics Engineering is one of the priority technology areas specified in the 9th Development Plan of the Special Commission on Science and Technology, and its popularity is growing steadily both in Turkey and around the world. As a new and multidisciplinary field, there is a high demand for Mechatronics Engineers both domestically and globally.
A graduate equipped with the necessary knowledge and concepts in Mechatronics Engineering holds a competitive advantage in securing positions in high-tech companies operating with computer-integrated manufacturing systems, research centers developing and utilizing advanced automation products, mechanical/electromechanical design and production for industrial automation, or academic institutions. The field of mechatronics has applications not only in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, robotics, industrial automation, defense systems, and the medical sector but also in areas such as agriculture and livestock.
The university’s location in Konya, one of Turkey’s largest industrial regions, provides a great opportunity for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.
Through protocols to be established with industrial organizations in the region, the department will offer students the opportunity to engage in practical studies such as internships and projects in industry, as well as providing possibilities for part-time and full-time employment.
