Department Highlights

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Necmettin Erbakan University was established in 2011 and began offering education in the 2013–2014 academic year with 30% of the curriculum taught in English. The undergraduate education, based on an English preparatory class, is conducted as a single full-time program. The academic staff, which forms the core of the department’s teaching and research activities, consists of 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors (PhD), and 1 Research Assistant.

Aeronautical Engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on the design, analysis, production, and development of vehicles that move through the air—such as airplanes, helicopters, multicopters, unmanned systems, and rockets—as well as the design of structures like projectiles used in weapon systems. This discipline also provides the necessary foundation for developing skills related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of these vehicles. In addition, aeronautical engineering contributes to research, development, and design activities in other industrial fields such as land transportation. Therefore, Aeronautical Engineering finds application across a wide spectrum—from the defense and aerospace industry to the automotive sector.

To successfully complete the Aeronautical Engineering program, students must earn a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. Graduates who meet the required English proficiency and obtain a qualifying score on the ALES exam may pursue postgraduate studies in their field or related disciplines.

Career Opportunities

Aeronautical engineers can work primarily as maintenance engineers in commercial airline companies, or they can actively participate in defense industry projects involving the development of fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and missiles. Additionally, they have career development opportunities in various industrial sectors, especially in the automotive and manufacturing industries.

Graduates who successfully complete the Aeronautical Engineering program can find employment in numerous institutions and organizations both in Türkiye and abroad. Graduates are awarded a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and may pursue careers in the following institutions:
