Organized with the contributions of the History Education Society and the Culture, Arts and Literature Society operating within our University, the conference titled “Turkish Children Who Rushed to Defend the Homeland on the Road to the Republic,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Nuri Köstüklü, Head of the Department of History Education at our Faculty, was held in the Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör Conference Hall. During the conference, Turkish children who went to the front lines in defense of the homeland during the First World War and the National Struggle were examined through visual materials based on documentary evidence. The conference particularly highlighted the heroism of high school—and even middle school—students and their teachers during those years. It was followed with great interest by our Faculty administrators, academic staff, and a large number of prospective teachers.
