Biotechnology encompasses scientific research and product development processes in various fields such as medicine, pharmacy, biology, chemistry, food, agriculture, environment, and renewable energy production. Graduates of the Department of Biotechnology can work in the following areas: Industrial sectors involving biotechnological processes or conducting R&D activities for the development of biotechnological products, especially in the food, chemical, energy, and packaging industries, Sectors producing biotechnological solutions to environmental problems, particularly wastewater treatment, or conducting R&D activities in this area, Sectors producing pharmaceuticals, diagnostic kits, medical devices and supplies, and conducting R&D activities in these fields, Public research institutions, primarily TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye), Due to the multidisciplinary nature of biotechnology, graduates can pursue postgraduate education and take part in academic research not only in Biotechnology departments but also in departments such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology and genetics within science faculties; in faculties of medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and agriculture; and in engineering faculties in departments such as chemical engineering, food engineering, environmental engineering, biomedical engineering, and bioengineering in universities both in Turkey and abroad.
