Objective
Konya, which is closely known throughout the world with its history and unique cultural heritage dating back to seven thousand BC and has hosted many important art movements from the past to the present, from architecture to music, is an ancient city that has been one of the leading centers of Turkish-Islamic arts, adorned with national and spiritual values that have been recorded in its memory and passed down from generation to generation for centuries.
Turkish Music, which has brought the masses together in the widest denominator throughout history in the development of Turkish-Islamic civilization, has been given special importance with the encouragement, commendation and advice of Hz. Mevlana, one of the spiritual architects of Konya.
Turkish music has been one of the essential elements of Mevleviism, which was founded in Konya by his son Sultan Veled and his grandchildren after his death in order to convey Hz. Mevlânâ's actions and discourses on divine love to the next generations, and many Mevlevi Rites, each of which is accepted as a monument, have brought together muhibbânı and mutrıbanı in Konya during "Mevlevi mukâbele".
As a legacy of Hz. Mevlânâ, music, and therefore Mevlevî âyins, which are highly regarded with a special importance and depth, have a very important influence on other genres and forms of Turkish music. Very important artists, who are the originators of many works created in other forms of Turkish music, have made very valuable contributions to the formation and performance of Mevlevî âyins, and have contributed very important works to the works and theory of Turkish music. The fact that the Mevlevi âyins, which are considered to be monumental works of Turkish music, reached their peak in this city with their form structure and performance, increases Konya's responsibility to work in depth in the field of Turkish music.
The task of recognizing, processing and transferring the ancient Turkish arts to the next generations by creating specialized fields in the academic community falls to our Universities, which are meticulously carrying out their studies in many fields of science and art today.
Our Conservatory, which was transformed into the Turkish Music State Conservatory in 2016 in order to train qualified artists in the field of Turkish music and academic staff needed by our country, desires and aims to fulfill its responsibility to this ancient city, which has a unique cultural treasure.
