During this period, he served as a member of the Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Commission and the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference. Following his parliamentary term, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Maarif Foundation in 2016, and Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University in 2018. Zorlu, who was appointed Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University for the second time on December 23, 2022, speaks fluent Arabic, fluent German and English, and a fluent Persian.
