Dr.Erel received BSc degree in Physics Engineering from Selçuk University, Konya, in 1985, MSc degree in Nuclear Engineering (Division of Nuclear Technology) from the Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, in 1989, and also PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sakarya University, Sakarya, in 1996. He is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Ankara, Turkey. His research interests are Lasers, Optoelectronics and Solar cells.



He was born in Konya, in 1963. He completed his primary and secondary education in Konya and graduated in 1985, from Selçuk University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering. The same year, he began working in the Department of Civil Engineering as Research Assistant and completed his Master’s Degree in 1987 and received the title of ‘’Civil Engineer M. Sc.’’. In 1989, he was sent by the Higher Education Council of Turkey to the United Kingdom for his PhD. In 1993, after completing his PhD degree in the University of Loughborough, he returned to Selçuk University, to the Department of Civil Engineering. In the same year, having served his military service, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to Selçuk University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering, Hydraulics Section. In 1996, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to Department of Environmental Engineering. In the same department, he became Associate Professor in 1997 and appointed as Professor in 2003. He served as the head of the Department and the Member of the Council of the Faculty and the Management Council of the Faculty. He did a large number of scientific researches on national and international level. Prof. Dr. AYDIN was appointed in May 13, 2011 as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and the Vice-Rector of our university in February 2, 2011.
