GERMAN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Necmettin Erbakan University was established in Konya in 2010 as a state university under the name “Konya University” with Law No. 6005 dated 14.07.2010, and its establishment was published in the Official Gazette dated 21.07.2010 and numbered 27648. With the law titled “Law on Amendments to the Primary Education and Education Law and Certain Other Laws,” published in the Official Gazette on April 11, 2012, and with the amendment made to the “Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions,” the name “Konya University” was changed to “Necmettin Erbakan University.”

The Division of German Language Education was established in 1982 under the Selçuk Education Institute. Until 2010, it operated under Selçuk University, and since 2010, it has continued its activities within the Department of Foreign Language Education at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education, Necmettin Erbakan University (founded as Konya University).


ARABIC LANGUAGE TEACHING

The Division of Arabic Language Education was established in 2019 within the Department of Foreign Language Education at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education, Necmettin Erbakan University, and admitted its first students in 2020. Undergraduate education lasts 4 years. Before starting undergraduate studies, students are required to successfully complete a 1-year preparatory program.

Students who wish to skip the preparatory year may begin their undergraduate education directly if they pass the exemption exam or obtain a minimum score of 60 from foreign language exams administered by ÖSYM. Students are assessed with at least one midterm exam and one final exam for each course. The contribution of midterm exams to the final grade is 50%, and the final exam also contributes 50%. All exams are graded out of 100.

Students who receive one of the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (BC), or (CC) are considered successful. Grades of (DC) and (DD) are conditionally passing grades. In order for a student to pass a course with a (DC) or (DD) grade, their cumulative GPA must be above 2.50. To successfully complete the program, students must earn at least 240 ECTS credits and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00.

The vision of our division is primarily to train teachers who have a strong command of the Arabic language and are competent in language acquisition, language teaching, measurement, and evaluation. Additionally, it aims to graduate individuals who are knowledgeable about Arabic literature, geography, and culture.

Graduates of our division have employment opportunities not only as Arabic language teachers but also as translators and specialists in various institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Transport, as well as organizations like the Presidency of Religious Affairs, General Directorate of Foundations, and General Directorate of State Archives. Furthermore, they may pursue academic careers through master’s and doctoral studies.


ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING (WITH PREPARATORY PROGRAM)

The history of the Division of English Language Education dates back to the Selçuk Education Institute period. It was established in 1982 under the institute and operated under Selçuk University until 2010. Since 2010, it has continued its activities within the Department of Foreign Language Education at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education, Necmettin Erbakan University (founded as Konya University).

In addition to undergraduate education, the Division of English Language Education also offers master’s programs with thesis, non-thesis master’s programs, and doctoral programs.
