Department of Foreign Languages Education

The Department of Foreign Language Education consists of three divisions established at different times. Among these, the English Language Education program first admitted students in the 1973–1974 academic year within the Education Institute affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, while the German Language Education program admitted its first students in the 1977–1978 academic year. Both programs were later transferred to the Faculty of Education at Selçuk University, which was established in 1982. The Arabic Language Education program began admitting students in the 2020–2021 academic year.

In our department, in addition to undergraduate education, master’s and doctoral programs are also offered, although this may vary over the years. Across the department, there are 4 professors, 8 associate professors, 4 assistant professors (Dr. Faculty Members), 1 lecturer, and 4 research assistants. One of the main objectives of our department is to train teachers in the field of foreign languages. Our graduates are also able to work in various sectors of professional life, such as translation and interpreting, tourism, and other related fields beyond foreign language education.
