The Department of Field Crops was established in 2021 as the second department of our faculty and commenced education in the newly constructed building in the 2021-2022 academic year.  The Department of Field Crops is one of the most comprehensive academic units in Turkey and in our region, representing a wide scope of plant production. The department conducts studies and trains technical personnel in four major disciplines: Cereals and Grain Legumes, Industrial Crops, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, and Forage Crops and Rangeland Management.  The primary objective of research activities conducted within the department is to contribute to the adequate and healthy nutrition of humanity in general and the people of our country in particular. These research efforts aim to identify the principles of cultivating field crops that will ensure sustainable high yield and high quality products, particularly under the ecological conditions of Central Anatolia. Both basic and applied research is conducted with a strong emphasis on the practical implementation of findings at the producer level.  Our undergraduate students will have the opportunity to participate in research projects conducted in the laboratories of our expert academic staff during the academic term and summer months, thereby reinforcing their theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Students are also encouraged to pursue applied training through collaborative projects both within the department and with national and international universities and research institutions.  The undergraduate program of our department is designed to provide students with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career. Upon graduation, students will be equipped to pursue careers as researchers in basic and applied sciences, educators, or professionals in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, food and pharmaceutical industries, and health.
