The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was established on July 14, 2010, and launched its undergraduate program in the 2013–2014 academic year. The department consists of two main divisions: Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Bioinformatics.

The department aims to become a pioneering academic unit by educating well-qualified individuals with strong analytical thinking skills who are capable of conducting scientific and technological research at both academic and industrial levels. These individuals are expected to be competitive on national and international platforms, integrate national identity with global values, and embrace a research-oriented, entrepreneurial, and innovative mindset while remaining respectful of environmental, social, and ethical principles. By doing so, the department seeks to contribute to meeting the demand for a skilled workforce in the fields of molecular biology and genetics, and to lead the field through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative research.

The core mission of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is to train qualified professionals in molecular biology applications and to strengthen university-industry collaboration.
