Curriculum Vitae

I am Gül Mengeş; I was born in Trabzon, the country where various shades of green sing folk songs, blue erodes rocks, birds cross in 3 sittings, hills are zigzags, and steep roads are my companions.

I was lucky because nature taught me to struggle.

My interest in art may have started on the branches of a fig tree. Using paper among so many leaves would be unfair to nature. The “Fig Tree” with its huge leaves was my art workshop. I would make designs by opening holes on the leaves. Fig leaves rival papyrus.

I completed my primary, secondary and high school education in Araklı, and my university education in Van. Traditional arts and fine arts are my areas of expertise that guide my life.

I did not start my career at university. After working as a master instructor in public education and as a paid teacher in national education, I was appointed to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Erciş Vocational School in 2019. I worked as an instructor in the Department of Handicrafts and Child Development. I experienced designing materials that will support multiple developmental areas for preschool education and the adventure of transforming wool into yarn by doing and living it.

After my 2-year duty here; I joined the staff of Konya Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Vocational School in 2022.

Design and I are a very good duo. We are both very happy with each other. Design feeds me and I solve its problems. We get along like this.

It's a long road. It's a dynamic job that never ends, never ends, and has a bright future.

My philosophy of education; never say I can't do it, there is definitely a way.

I think that I am obliged to teach everything I learn, and that I should do this in accordance with the full learning model.

Theoretical information hanging in the air should be visible in some way and educational outcomes should definitely be displayed. Every work we do involves effort and is worth exhibiting. For me and my students, everywhere can be an educational tool and everything can be an educational material. As long as we think about it.

I am happy to accompany young designers who choose us with Basic Design, Printing Techniques, Pattern, Perspective, InDesign, Photoshop, Basic Photography and Product Design courses.

I wish you days full of design.
