Aim of the Department

The main goal of the International Trade and Finance Department is to train strategic, versatile, and well-equipped professionals who will boost Turkey's competitiveness in the changing global economic system. In this context, our department aims to train individuals who don't just rely on theoretical knowledge but also develop practical skills.

 

The department's main goals can be summarized as follows:

Global Thinking Skills: To equip students with the ability to understand the global trading system, international economic organizations, and regional and transnational trade agreements.

Analytical and Strategic Approach: To train individuals who can analyze complex foreign trade processes, make rational decisions, and have high strategic planning and management skills.

Financial Literacy: To educate students who can comprehend international financial markets and instruments and who have risk analysis and investment evaluation skills.

Multidisciplinary Competence: To produce graduates who can work at the intersection of fields such as economics, business, law, logistics, and information technology and who have an interdisciplinary perspective.

Application-Oriented Education: To prepare students for the job market by providing them with sectoral experience through on-the-job training, sectoral projects, and applied courses.

Ethical and Responsible Leadership: To train managers and experts who consider not only profitability but also social responsibility and ethical values in the business world.

Combining Local and Global Perspectives: To cultivate individuals who can synthesize local solutions that contribute to Turkey's economic development with a global perspective.

Duration of Study: 4 years

During this period, students follow a balanced education program that includes basic theoretical knowledge as well as practical courses.

Mandatory On-the-Job Training (Practical Training):

A 14-week mandatory on-the-job training program is implemented in the 8th semester. During this process, students gain industry experience before graduation by working at companies directly related to their field.

Course content includes case studies, project assignments, and practical work integrated with the industry.

Strong Partnerships with the Industry:

Our department collaborates with companies in various industrial and commercial regions, particularly in Konya. This enables students to gain practical learning opportunities by establishing direct contact with the real sector both during on-the-job training and in course-based projects.

Core Curriculum Areas

1. International Trade:

It covers topics such as foreign trade transactions, customs practices, export-import legislation, international agreements, and logistics processes. Analyses are conducted in the context of Turkey's export-driven growth model adopted since 1980.

4. Economics

Microeconomic and macroeconomic theories, international economics, development economics, and the structure of the Turkish economy form the theoretical basis of the department.

2. International Financing:

It focuses on teaching financial processes such as exchange rates, international payment systems, financing foreign trade, risk management, and international capital markets.

5. Human Resources and Management Skills:

It includes courses aimed at developing managerial skills such as leadership, organization, career planning, team management, and business ethics.

3. Strategic Management and Marketing:

It covers the positioning of companies in global competition, strategic decision-making, brand management, international market research, and digital marketing techniques.

6. Applied Information Systems and Technology:

Software used in trade and finance, e-commerce, digitization, data analytics, and the integration of information systems into business processes are among the contemporary approaches covered.
