Today, as a result of developments in information and communication technologies, many changes have occurred in the business world. For businesses, information technologies have become necessary for daily business as well as realizing strategic goals. This need for change in technology, business and management processes has led to the emergence of a new field of study, the Management Information Systems Undergraduate Program. The program covers the combined fields of Business Administration and Computer Engineering.

AIM OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

In line with the expectations of the digital business world, it aims to train managers who have knowledge of information systems, software and programming in the public and private sectors, who will manage information systems, and who are competent in corporate processes and activities.

Students who can develop themselves in the field of informatics and business administration with the compulsory and wide elective course pool approach in both informatics and management science can gain sector experience with the “Compulsory On-the-Job Training” application in the last year. They can gain an advantage in finding a job by creating business connections before they graduate. In addition to the courses and internship practices, students also actively participate in project and software development competitions.

The main goals of the department;

Our department admits 70 students to the Regular Education Program. The courses in the MIS undergraduate program are basically divided into two groups as compulsory and elective. The courses are within the scope of business management, informatics and information management. Thus, by having knowledge about rapidly developing hardware and software technologies, they develop solutions in information systems and other web environments and gain managerial skills.

- Openness to Development and Innovations: To raise individuals who complement and direct themselves according to the needs of the market and the deficiencies of the sector, who are not satisfied with the trainings given and who constantly improve themselves.

- Digital Literacy: To raise individuals who can understand and use the information presented in the digital environment in different ways and have the ability to produce information.

- Multidisciplinary Competence: To produce graduates with an interdisciplinary perspective who can work at the intersection of fields such as economics, business, law, management and information technologies.

- Application-Oriented Education: To train market-ready individuals through on-the-job training, sectoral projects and applied courses to enable students to gain sectoral experience.

- Expert and Entrepreneur: To educate students who enjoy what they do and have the ability to take risks.

- Ethical and Responsible Leadership: Raising honest, ethical and responsible individuals whose main goal is to benefit from their work before they are compensated for it.

- Proactive Perspective: To educate students who can bring different approaches to the events and phenomena that will take place.

With these goals, we aim to train individuals who contribute to the development of Management Information Systems by sharing all kinds of training, knowledge and experience with the field.

Our students complete their undergraduate education with a 14-week “Compulsory On-the-Job Training” program in the 7th semester and 14 weeks in the 8th semester after 6 semesters of education.  With this internship opportunity, they gain work experience before they start working life.

Students who graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems receive the title of "MIS (Management Information Systems) Specialist". They can work in information technologies (IT) and software / system development departments of public and private institutions and consulting companies.
