The Department of Educational Sciences aims to contribute to the body of knowledge in the field of education, produce solutions to problems, and maintain its relevance by following innovations in line with its vision of “being a model followed in education.” Through academic studies conducted within the framework of ethical values and based on scientific methodologies, the department educates teachers, young individuals, and future academics. The faculty to which the department is affiliated was established in the 1962–1963 academic year as Selçuk Education Institute, and after serving under different institutional structures over time, it continues its activities within Necmettin Erbakan University.
Established in the 1985–1986 academic year, the Department of Educational Sciences provides education through its divisions of Psychological Services in Education (later renamed Guidance and Psychological Counseling), Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Administration. In the following years, the divisions of Measurement and Evaluation in Education and Philosophical, Social, and Historical Foundations of Education were also added. The divisions within the department continue their educational activities at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
