Surveying Techniques
The subject of Surveying includes the field measurements and calculation methods required to determine the positions of natural and man-made features on the Earth's surface and to represent them on paper at a reduced scale.
The Department of Geomatics Engineering at Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Engineering was established in 2010 with the aim of educating well-equipped engineers who will contribute to the development of our country under the title of “Geomatics Engineer.” Our department aims to train individuals at the undergraduate level who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and technology, capable of meeting the demands of the modern era, competitive at both national and international levels, and able to take an active role in the projects they undertake. Our program also seeks to develop graduates who possess systematic problem-solving skills, strong design abilities, creativity, entrepreneurship, and teamwork skills; who can follow and apply technological innovations; and who fulfill their professional responsibilities within the framework of ethical values.
The Department of Geomatics Engineering consists of six academic divisions, and its core curriculum is structured to include both fundamental engineering courses such as mathematics and physics, as well as specialized subjects like surveying, photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), cadastre, and urban land management. The curriculum is supported by project-based courses designed to help students reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

Remote sensing is the process of detecting and monitoring the physical characteristics of an area by measuring the reflected and emitted radiation from a distance, typically from a satellite or aircraft.
Applications such as positioning with GNSS, determination of crustal movements, deformation analysis, and evaluation of satellite data are key areas of study.
Cartography is a scientific discipline that studies all types of maps and map-like representations, examines the characteristics of graphic symbols used in these representations, and develops methods for the design, production, and use of maps.
It generally involves producing a map, drawing, measurement, or 3D model of a real-world object or scene from photographs.
It is an academic discipline that examines the technical and legal aspects of practices such as cadastre, expropriation, zoning, and land consolidation within the framework of national land policies, and conducts education and research activities on property valuation and the regulation of property rights.
