The Ereğli Faculty of Agriculture Signs a New Bilateral Agreement with the University of Thessaly, Greece
Necmettin Erbakan University has taken another step toward its internationalization goals. A bilateral agreement covering student and staff mobility has been signed between the Ereğli Faculty of Agriculture and one of Greece’s leading universities, the University of Thessaly (uth.gr). This collaboration will contribute to strengthening educational, research, and cultural interactions between both institutions.
Founded in 1984, the University of Thessaly welcomed its first students in the 1988-1989 academic year. Based in the city of Volos, the university also has campuses in Thessaly and Central Greece, in cities such as Larissa, Lamia, Karditsa, and Trikala. The university consists of 8 schools, 37 departments, and offers 71 postgraduate programs. It currently hosts 36,622 undergraduate students and 4,500 postgraduate and doctoral candidates, supported by 844 faculty members and 427 administrative staff. According to the 2019 Shanghai Ranking of World Universities, the University of Thessaly is ranked among the top 1000 universities worldwide. The mission of the University of Thessaly is to promote knowledge through education and research and to contribute to cultural and economic development at the regional, national, and international levels. The university strives to create a learning environment that fosters critical thinking and commitment to democratic values while encouraging high-quality scientific research.
With this new agreement, students and staff from the Ereğli Faculty of Agriculture will have the opportunity to study and receive training at the University of Thessaly. Likewise, students and academic staff from the University of Thessaly will be able to participate in mobility programs at Necmettin Erbakan University.
