Language Policy of Necmettin Erbakan University
The language policy of Necmettin Erbakan University for preparing participants for mobility is based on to improve the quality of higher education and strengthen our European dimension. By ensuring high quality, at the beginning of every semester, English Profiency Exam is organized by two-sided alliance of Foreign Languages High School and International Office. The schedule and the content of the exam are announced in the institution’s official webpage. The exam is formed as two stages. First stage assesses the grammatical and vocabulary knowledge, second stage assesses listening and oral skills.
In staff mobility, academic and administrative staff use official certificates of language knowledge. Through these certificates the established committee see if the candidates have the ability to adapt in a foreign country.
Language Support for Incoming Students and Staff
For incoming students and staff an orientation program is organized with intensive Turkish language lessons. Before the student arrives they are assigned a mentor that assists them with cultural/academic problems. Intensive Turkish language lessons are targeted for incoming students and staff who wish to study Turkish language before starting their Erasmus exchange period in Turkey. The Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Center (TÖMER) courses in our institute are all beginners’ level courses, so students and staff do not need to have any prior knowledge of Turkish to take part on these courses.
