International Workshop: Risk Assessment applied in Mining

An international workshop entitled as ”Risk Assessment applied in Mining” was organized by Competence Center for SHE & Ethics (Necmettin Erbakan University, Konya, Turkey) in cooperation with Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran-Iran (Environmental Research Center) in Sari , Iran on November 24 – 27, 2013. The workshop was financed by IMPASCO (Iran Minerals Production & Supply Company). The location of the workshop was selected by IMPASCO at one of its daughter company (Central Alborz Coal Co).The main objective of the workshop was to give the participants an understanding of the main concepts of risk including uncertainty and hazard, risk assessment and management and discuss in how to apply their abilities to improve human safety, to protect the environment, and to improve the productivity in their workplaces/mines.

The participants were SHE manager of different types of mine (undergrounds and open-pits). 45 participants took part in the workshop.

Workshop started on Sunday 24th of November at 8:30. At the beginning Mr. Rabiei representative of director manager of the host company welcomed the participants. Then Mr. Khajeh-Poor (Chief of IMPASCO Co.) and Mr. Baba-Alizadeh SHE manager of the host company reported about safety programs and planning in IMPASCO and Alborz Markazi Company respectively. Then after, the messages of the presidents of Necmettin Erbakan University and Tarbiat Modares University were read by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriari and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Khodadadi respectively.
