Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birekul

        Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birekul has completed his bachelor’s education in the Faculty of Theology at Selçuk University, and completed his master's degree in the field of Sociology of Religion with his thesis titled "Women and Family in the First Period Islamic Society From a Sociological Perspective" (2002), and her doctorate with the thesis titled "The Reflections of European Union Membership on the Religious Life of Turkish Society, Future Expectations" (2009) at the same university. He worked as assistant professor between the years of 2010 and 2012 at the Faculty of Education of İnönü University. He was a visiting professor at Malaysia International Islamic University in 2011. He obtained the title of associate professor of sociology in 2016 and the title of professor in 2021. He is currently a faculty member at Necmettin Erbakan University, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Department of Sociology. He has books titled “Social Life and Family in the Days of the Prophet” (Konya / 2001) “Woman in the Days of the Prophet” (Konya / 2004), “-Between Fear and Hope- European Union, Turkey and Religious Life” (Amsterdam / 2011) and “Gift Culture” (Istanbul / 2014) and many international and national articles and papers published in the fields such as Sociology of Religion, Sociology of Culture, Sociology of Music, Modernization, Globalization and Identity, as well as copyright studies in the same fields. He is married and has 3 children.
