03.11.2013

National Values Education Congress went on with “Our national Values and Youth” themed lecture given by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şeker at 09:30 on Friday November, 1st. At his speech, Prof. Şeker said followings in summary: “As nation the civilization circle in which we reside is Civilization of Islam. There is no doubt that the dominant factors for basement of the birth of Civilization of Islam are The Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. In that case, Muslim communities together with their own national and cultural specifications under the light of The Holy Qur’an and Sunnah compounded their own elements and the congregation of them put forth the phenomenon we call “Civilization of Islam”.  The dominant factor in constitution of Civilization of Islam is the life style and mentality that we call “Nuncupative Cultur” weaved by The Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. A nation, one of the diverse races situated in circle of Civilization of Islam comes into prominence and gains value with its nuncupative cultures. In condition of both inexistence of this and lack of reliance on its own core essence, appreciated values, religion, language, customs, traditions, in short every kind of moral values and standards of judgment, it is not possible to talk about sense of belonging to a civilization or permanence and rootedness of a civilization. Absolutely Turkish public had its own specific culture before embracing religion of Islam. As to after the embracement of Islam, Turkish people seem to be in circle of Civilization of Islam, though they had a centuries old culture before embracement of Islam. Together with their religion, language, tradition, law, opinion, their typical reactions towards incidents and with their art, Turkish people had its own culture and art too. We point out a historical fact when we say that this culture and art other than being a part of the total in the circle of Civilization of Islam, it can be referred as a separate on its own Turkish Culture and Civilization and this civilization may be researched individually as well.

Right after the speech of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şeker, began parallel sessions. During in four different halls held parallel sessions, audience was informed on Values. Following the part in which the questions of audience were answered of the parallel sessions was carried out and at 18:00 1st National Values Education Congress finalized through evaluation convention held which Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tahir Yüksek attended too.
