Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık Visited TÜBA

Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık and Ministry Counselor Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan visited TÜBA. At the visit, TÜBA President Ahmet Cevat Acar, TÜBA Council Member our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker and all Council members exchanged ideas on various subjects extending from education to science and from projects of TÜBA to its future plans. 

Minister Fikri Işık at his speech during the visit: “We can’t generate science since 300 years. The main cause of this is the regression at social sciences. Appreciation to philosophy and Islam has decreased and so there is the problem of non-continuation of basic and social sciences. In my opinion TÜBA should provide specific help for those who need.” 

About the activities to be carried out with TÜBA, Minister Işık, said : “To make our children love science and be acquainted with their history is important.” About the subject, he said that by efficient works of TÜBA, TÜBİTAK and science centers, we would have new generations obtain and embrace values, entrepreneurship soul and efficiency consciousness. 

Minister Fikri Işık, told that TÜBA is in need of a substantial law and he requested the acceleration of works done on the subject. Besides, Mr. Minister said that he attaches great importance on informal meetings while exchanging opinions, by saying “We can come together with every member of TÜBA on different subjects, we should hear every member’s opinion carefully.”

TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar expressed his utmost gladness for Mr. Işık’s thoughts those he put into words during the visit and he thanked him.
