Governor of Konya Muammer Erol, our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Muhsin Kar, Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Sünbül, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Bilal Kuşpınar, Dean of Faculty of Science Hüseyin Kara attended the panel of Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education, organized within the context of 93rd Approval Anniversary of Turkey’s National Anthem (İstiklal Marşı) activities.
The conference was presided by Prof. Dr. H. Ali Özdemir and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Caner Arabacı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemal Güven were speakers of the topic; at the opening speech our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker: “Today, once more we commemorate in respect and thankfulness Mehmet Akif with his leading character as to morals, aside being a poet as well as an intellectual scholar, who has been a model for us with his fondness to illumination and his distinguished life during the years of foundation of the Republic. I believe in that especially my young fellows should read Safahat more than once and behave in the way they learn from Safahat by analyzing and deducing lessons from it.”
Panelist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Caner Arabacı at his speech, attracting attention to the contents of anthems of England and France, said that it is worth of thinking the efforts put through aiming the alteration of our national anthem(İstiklal Marşı) at those times in which ‘İstiklal Marşı’,the product of national faith and uprising, written under extraordinary circumstances of 1921. He completed his speech saying: “It is the duty of youth to defend national independence, the integrity of motherland and the state.”
At the Programme, Rukiye Nur Kaplan, student at Karkent Primary School, read “İstiklal Marşı” by heart.
At the end of Panel Governor Muammer Erol and our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker presented Certificate of Appreciation to the participants.
