Our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker together with Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Aydın and Prof. Dr. Tahir Yüksek paid a visit to President of Journalists’ Association Adem Alemdar at his office. There were General Secretary of Association Mustafa Gülen and member of Board of Directors Dursun Seyis present at the visit as well.
At the visit of courtesy President of the Association Alemdar expressed their feeling of contentment due to the visit of our Rector and his Deputies. He continued his words as followed: “Our association, founded in 1950, having more than 300 members comprising counties, is a service oriented NGO (Non-governmental organization). Our main goal is to generate services to our journalist members and to meet their needs and expectations within our potential. In the future our aim is to develop our association into a NGO working for the benefit of public. Generally our activities are carried out through sponsorships. Our revenues are very limited and insufficient. Despite all these issues, we set our future goals as serving our members in the best way and increasing the quality of local press and we will go on putting effort in this direction. This is a relay race. When the time comes, we will hand over this duty gladly to the person and his/her team who are capable of taking our flag further ahead. We as association would like to undertake different projects together with Necmettin Erbakan University. By producing projects for the good of Konya and its community, especially it would make us glad to able to make use of uniiversity’s academic infrastructure.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker pointing out the importance of journalism and journalists said: “In fact journalism in Konya takes its roots back during the period of Independence War. During that period journalism in Konya has accomplished a very significant mission for the freedom and independence of the country. By foundation of the Association the union among press was built. We will follow the activities of association in the future carefully and meticulously as we have done in until now. Nowadays journalism has gained a great pace in different categories by the advancements achieved in technology. Journalism on internet, visual media, radio-tv newscasts and social media have opened new windows in journalism. In this sense, as university we put into words frankly our willingness for participation into any project that may be beneficial to the association and to our country. At this point I bear the opinion that it would be good to develop common projects and put them into action immediately. I would like to congratulate President of Association Mr. Alemdar and members of Board of Directors for their work they carried out until now and wish for continuation of this successful works increasingly in the future; greet all working or retired journalists by presenting my respects.”
After the meeting President Adem Alemdar presented gifts to our Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker in the name of Journalists’ Association.
