06.01.2014

The “From Peaceful School to Community in Peace Democratic Citizenship Education Project” with the supports of our University and Konya City Directorate of Education has begun in Konya. Today’s meeting of the Project promoted by European Union and Turkey under the cooperation of YÖRET Foundation (Foundation of Promotion of Guidance and Guidance Counselor Training at Higher Education) and BEAUM  has enjoyed the attendance of Deputy Governor of Konya Tayyar Şaşmaz, Director of City Directorate of National Education Mukadder Gürsoy, Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. A. Murat Sünbül, Vice Deans, teachers assigned at the project and PDR students.

Weekly organized Programme’s 5th Session as promotional session was carried out at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education. Together with the last session to be carried out next week the education of teachers from Meram, Selçuklu and Karatay  Counties and the voluntary junior students of Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Education Psychological Counseling and Guidance will be completed. At the 2nd week of February the application will start simultaneously at the nine schools designated by City Directorate of Education. Project DCoordinator of the Programme is fulfilled by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurten Sargın; academic member at  Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Education Educational Sciences Department Guidance and Psychological Counselling Division.
Nüket Atalay, member of Board of Directors of YÖRET and Social Service Expert: “We work very much about the issue of child rights. Even before it was approved by the Parliament we have argued for these rights and the Child Rights’ Convention was signed with our support. When we asked children what they understand from a secure school, we would get the answer, the school where there is no violence. We bear the opinion that the secure and peaceful atmosphere at our school will reflect to our society positively. We have experienced a very comfortable study environment in Konya thanks to Necmettin Erbakan University. I would like to thank Necmettin Erbakan University and City Directory of National Education for their suppor.”

Deputy Governor of Konya Tayyar Şaşmaz: “In determination of target group in society, it will be more efficient to implement common work of students and their parents with City Directorate of National Education. Violence is not acceptable from whom it comes. Null tolerance from teachers to students is impossible. I hope that NEU and this team will set forth new projects as of now. I would like to thank to teachers, student fellows and everybody who put their efforts.”

Our Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Sünbül: “School resides in life. The school at the center of life, bears importance in the inspiration of peace. In this context there is a need for the education of Guidance Teachers and Instructors. In the near future the application of theoretic education received from here will begin. I would like to thank everybody for works done and their attendance at the project.”
Deputy Director of City Directorate of National Education, Mukadder Gürsoy: “The way we behave against difficulties we come across in life as adults will be imitated by children like a photograph reflecting real life. When we investigate the background of violence, we see that it originates from the family in which the child was raised. It is gratifying to learn that the projects will reach out to families. In this sense, our city stands at upper ranks. Our wish would be just more improvements at the subject. Together my wish for the achievement of goals intended by project , I would like to thank all who put effort.”
