DEPARTMENT OF ART HISTORY

Art History is a scientific discipline that studies artistic and aesthetic aspects of the material cultural properties which revealed in historical conditions by the civilization lived in the past.  Science of Art history examines material culture, materials in terms of techniques, shapes, compositions and styles. It examines the change and transformation of works of art according to historical events, geography, climate conditions and materials and analyzing the interactions and exchanges between art works. it also reveals regional styles. In this sense, as a natural consequence of being a scholar from the social sciences, it is in a interaction with science branches in all social sciences. Our aim is to introduce the historical, cultural and artistic richness of our country by doing scientific excavations, projects, surveys and researches and publishing pappers in Konya, which continually hosts many civilizations from the Neolithic period to today and other cities in Anatolia. In this direction, we also aim to contribute the transport of our cultural assets to future generations in safe. We aimed to bring qualified art historians to our country that need them in both in the public sector and in the private sector by providing both theoretical and practical lessons in the framework of curriculum prepared by our department and raising graduate students who have all kinds of knowledge to do analytical analysis and evaluation.
