About Department

The foundation of the Department of Geography Teaching is based on the Ministry of National Education, Selçuk Education Institute, Social Studies Teaching, which was opened in the 1962-1963 academic year. In the academic year of 1982-1983, Selcuk University started education as a Geography Teaching Department within the Social Studies Education Department of the Faculty of Education. Since 1997, the Department of Geography Education has been included in the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education. The education period of the Department of Geography Education was 5 years between 1998-1999 and 2014-2015 academic years. Starting from the 2014-2015 academic year, the education period has been determined as 4 years. Geography Education Department offers a postgraduate education (Master's and Doctorate) within the Institute of Educational Sciences.
