Chemistry Education Department

Brief history of the program and changes:

Konya Necmettin Erbakan University was established as a state university in Konya in 2010 with the name of "Konya University". The name of University was later changed to "Necmettin Erbakan University" on April 11, 2012. On the other hand, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education as one of the oldest higher education institutions in Konya as it was  founded in 1962.became a part of Necmettin Erbakan University in the 2011-2012 academic year.  Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education hosts 10 departments, 24 different programs and over 250 academic staff and 4000 students. The Department of Mathematics and Science Education was established in 2016. The department includes Biology Education, Science Education, Physics Education, Chemistry Education, and Mathematics Education programs. The Chemistry Teaching Program was restructured in 2016 named as the Chemistry Education Program and became a part of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education. Chemistry Education Program includes 9 professors and 1 associate professor. Currently 12 students are pursuing Master Degree and 14 students Doctoral Degree in Chemistry program. In Chemistry Teaching graduate program, 4 students are pursuing Master Degree.

Career  Opportunities

Our graduates can find job opportunity to work as a chemistry teacher in private and public schools under the Ministry of National Education. In addition, they have the opportunity to pursue an academic career in the field of Chemistry, Chemistry Education and Science Education. Some of our graduates are also able to find a chance to work in the research laboratories in industrial areas.
Every year, most of our graduates can continue their graduate studies in chemistry in the graduate school of art and sciences and in chemistry teaching program in the Institute  of Educational Sciences in Turkey  and abroad.
