German Language Teaching Program

Brief History

German Language Teaching program was founded in 1982 as a part of Seljuk University and transferred to Necmettin Erbakan University in 2012. It offers master’s and PhD degrees to national and international students.

The admission requirements are determined by the Turkish Higher Education Institution (YÖK), and student placements are made based on students’ scores in the university exam by the Center for Assessment, Selection, and Placement (ÖSYM).

Approximately 30 % of the overall student population in our program have lived in Germany for short or long periods of time. The rest of the student population had to prove their German proficiencies through their scores in the German language test offered by ÖSYM. Some of these students also attended German preparation school for one year.

Career Opportunities

The students who successfully complete the German language teaching program may apply to related postgraduate programs in the country or abroad. They can also work as German teachers in public or private elementary and secondary schools, where German is the medium of instruction or taught as a foreign language. Finally, they can work in various sectors such as tourism or banking.
